This Two for Two Report Works

2-19-06 --- Gyro faced off Sunday night against their long time rivals Shoreline. The teams have been battling it out for over eight years. There were plenty of eyes watching the outcome of this game. Gyro jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first period on a goal by Tom. Both teams traded chances but the period ended 1-0 in favor of Gyro. Both teams unloaded in the second period with a total of five goals being scored. Shoreline tied the game early in the second of a weak shot past Chad. Gyro got motivated and scored the next three goals. Leading the way were Craig, Tom and Steve. Shoreline closed out the second with a goal making it 4-2 in favor of Gyro. The goal every two minutes pace was continued in the third. Gyro and Shoreline traded goals back and forth until the buzzer sounded. Leading the way were Andy and Steve. Once again it was a quality game by two the "old guard" teams in the B league. I am sure these two clubs will meet in the playoffs. Gray was a no show / no call. He owes us beer or something. The whole team earned player of the game honors. Everyone played well or no one stood out from the pack. The next game between these two teams will be called the Aldrink Memorial Match. You couldn't make more than one pass with out an Aldrink touching the puck.

02-26-06 --- Gyro took on a desperate A.P. team Sunday night. They needed a win to have a shot at the last playoff slot. Gyro was two points behind first place and had Shoreline and Soho hot on their heals. The A.P. guys were using beer as bargaining tool for a roll over by Gyro. Gyro decided to be good sports and play the game. "We don't need your stinking beer". We also had to rely on Joe Mylenck as our back up goalie, because Chad was off in Detroit. Gyro put the pressure on in the first but only managed one goal. Tom scored on a nice feed from Devin. The period ended 1-0 and it was still anyone's game. Gyro continued with the strong "D" and offensive pressure in the second. Gyro was able to put to goals past the A.P. goalie. Leading the way were Steve and Wayne. Once again Devin was the set up man on both goals. The period ended 3-0 and Gyro seemed on their way. The only stat of note in the third was Joe picking up the lone Gyro penalty. It looked like he was wrestling or hugging the A.P. player behind the net. Gyro skated off with the win and A.P. was out of the playoffs. The win was dedicated to the team fashion plate - Gary Bergeron. He was looking pretty spiffy in his pink shirt. Pink shirt, excessive personal hygiene in the locker-room, back-pack hockey bag… Gary is loosing man points every week. Devin was player of the week with the trio of assists. See next week as we face of against a tough Cella team.
